Industry leaders such as Baosteel and Ansteel have taken the lead in developing and applying hydrogen metallurgy technologies, driving low-carbon transformation across the sector. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a revised implementation plan for steel capacity replacement, further tightening controls on new capacity while encouraging electric arc furnace-based short process steelmaking. On the environmental front, ultra-low emission upgrades now cover over 80% of the nation's steel production capacity, marking significant progress in the industry's green development. Experts note that the steel sector will continue to deepen supply-side structural reforms, accelerate its transition toward intelligence and sustainability, and promote high-quality growth.
